The Amethyst Ring Galaxy, or sometimes the Amethyst Ring, is a barred spiral galaxy currently in the process of rapid star formation, as notable in the bright, purple nebulae that seem to form a ring around the galaxy, henceforth the galaxy's name. It is thousands of light years larger than the Milky Way and is nearly 67 million light years away.

It was first imaged four years after the War of the Decamillenial Transition had ended. Although manned exploration began in the mid-20300's, the colonisation mission had begun with several fleets of human colonists being assembled for the intergalactic journey in 20290.

It was accessed by human colonists through a series of wormhole tests that lasted for years, until they opened up the Uupin Wormhole which brought them close to the galactic center. In the following centuries, the human colonists encountered lifeless worlds until they discovered the planet Dremeli.

History Edit

Soon after the Uupin Wormhole was opened up to the galaxy, fleets of colonist ships began to flood the galaxy, constantly searching and scanning for habitable worlds to colonise. Due to their proximity to the galactic center, there were high radiation levels that were emitted by the supermassive black hole, preventing any life on most planets within a thousand light year radius. The fleets were about to give up until one fleet of human colonists encountered a small, rocky planet about twenty thousand light years from the galactic center.

They were surprised to hear nothing extra-terrestrial on their communications. It took a further four decades until they detected signals that could only originate from a civilisation. The fleet commander was quick to respond, and decided to investigate the source of the signal. It brought them to the planet Dremeli, where a species with the same name was rapidly sending signals into the galaxy. The human colonists hesitated before making contact with the inhabitants of the planet, therefore, they waited until the Dremeli found them.

Dremeli ConflictEdit

There had never been a galactic civilisation in the Amethyst Ring Galaxy before, until the Humans arrived. Once the Dremeli found a colony of humans in a nearby star system, they responded aggressively and fought against them in the Battle of Oarr, forcing an evacuation of nearly a million humans (Evacuation of Oarr).

The evacuated humans fled further away from the battle, to another star system, out of range of the ongoing battle. The humans hid away from the conflict and military tension that was rising between the two species. They were soon discovered within a decade, and engaged them again in the Battle of Vaad. The end of the battle destroyed the human colonists, with less than fifty believed to have escaped the battle.

Both species went undetected for 600 years, with the human colonists struggling to maintain a stable government within the galaxy. The humans required intergalactic help from other civilisations, but to no luck, they went unnoticed. In this difficult time, the Dremeli dealt a crippling blow to the human colonists in the Battle of Rimal. The help the human colonists needed was noticed by Xcathli colonies in other galaxies, but they sent no reply to the distress calls. The Xcathli prepared a small portion of their army to fight on Rimal with the Humans and quickly arrived in the third month of the battle. With the help of the Xcathli, the battle was won by the struggling human colonists and the Xcathli.

The Dremeli and the human colonists signed a ceasefire truce (Ceasefire Truce of Rimal), that would only last for a maximum of a century. The Xcathli offered all their help to restore a major human presence in the galaxy. They agreed to share the galaxy between the two species, but it led to a rise in xenophobia between the two species. The xenophobic attacks reduced over the next decade as the Humans managed to restore peace to the galaxy.

Post-Ceasfire Truce of RimalEdit

The ceasefire truce with the Dremeli ended within a century, and the armies of the Dremeli had reappeared across the galaxy. The army served as galactic security only for the Dremeli, which had begun to raise tensions between the new human government and the Dremeli galactic government. Soon, the armies took over every inch of the galaxy, from markets to space stations.

With the security and destiny of the galaxy in the hands of the Dremeli, the military and political tensions begin to climb once more, reaching levels far scarier and terrifying than Human politicians had predicted. The galaxy plunged into a galactic cold war, with Dremeli annexing parts of human space in the galaxy and several sectors in the nearest galaxies.

Galactic Civil WarEdit

After the annexation of human sectors, the Dremeli forced a mass evacuation of all humans in the galaxy. However, less than a hundred million humans had managed to sneak past security measures and remain inside the galaxy. The Dremeli had soon found out about the remaining humans and were ordered to destroy them. Although, a human rebellion began to fight against the Dremeli forces, winning their first battle against them in the Battle of Thal. The rebellion grew in power and secured many sectors in their control.

Once the Dremeli were defeated at the Battle of Thal, they threatened a nuclear bombing on the rebellion's home world. While the rebellion had taken the threat seriously, the Dremeli had sneakily attacked their headquarters on their home world in the Battle of Ataen. Soon after the battle, they nuclear bombed the planet, mostly targeting the major cities and causing mass casulties of nearly two billion. The bombing caused the rebellion to retreat to a nearby system, and they quickly plotted to attack the Dremeli home world to attempt to destroy the center of the galactic government. The attack failed, but the news was heard by the Xcathli and the Orcians, which both species offered to help the fight against the Dremeli.

The Orcians, Xcathli and Humans came together in a council room, discussing and plotting several battles of Dremeli-controlled territory. It was a thirteen-hour long meeting that brought the three species closer together than ever before. They plotted the famous Battle of Sharia and the Battle of Rhaan, which both battles led to the Dremeli briefly invading a major Xcathli colony world, but failing to take control.

The two famous battles resulted in mass casulties on both sides, but the human-formed rebellion were victorious. The slow decline of the Dremeli had begun, and several more blows to their military and economy had sped up the process of their extinction. With the Dremeli government falling apart, the rebellion took over more sectors until the government had surrendered to their growing power.

Demise of the DremeliEdit

In one last blow to the human-formed rebellion, the Dremeli discovered a small group of humans attempting to blow up a major city with a nuclear warhead. In space, the last of the Dremeli forces battled against a fleet of rebellion ships that succesfully destroyed the Dremeli army, once and for all. One of the members of the human attack group was Aries Dawn; a criminal turned rebellion fighter that delivered the nuclear warhead to the central city of the Dremeli government, and ignited the warhead. The nuclear explosion vaporized Aries instantly but she died knowing that the Dremeli were to be destroyed due to her support in the rebellion.

The Dremeli suffered crippling blows to their weaking military force, until human governments from other galaxies heard of the conflict that lasted for over a millennia. They immediately entered the Amethyst Ring Galaxy and aided the galaxy's human colonists to take full control. With the Dremeli numbering in the tens of millions, a tiny portion compared to the human population, the remaining Dremeli were allowed to live, but under strict laws to prevent future uprisings or rebellions against the new galactic government.
