A moon orbiting a cold gas giant.

Overview Edit

Located 372.1 lightyears from Earth, Martopia is a warm O-Class moon of a cold J-Class planet orbiting a yellow dwarf star (RS 8409-1792-7-1188144-560 in SpaceEngine 0.9.7.2). Martopia is inhabited by multicellular life. This planet was discovered in 2140 when humans accidentally came upon a signal that led to this moon. One of the Martopian species caused this.

Physical Edit

A shot from the watery surface of Martopia. As you can see there is nothing but clouds in the sky.

The diameter of Martopia is 8934.9 km. The mean temperature is around 130 °C. The rotation period is 1 Earth day which is the same as its orbital period. The moon along with the system is 8.388 billion years old. Martopia mainly consists of a large ocean of water.

The moon has a low gravitational pull at about 0.3 G and an atmospheric pressure of 0.6 atm.

Atmospherics Edit

Storms on Martopia's horizon sets up for some cinematic views.

The atmosphere of Martopia is very similar to Earth's, except thicker and with more clouds. The skies of Martopia are rather boring to the species that inhabit it.

The star is barely visible through the thick, cloudy atmosphere of Martopia. Another thing to note is the storms. There are several storms scattered throughout the planet. These storms cause high tides and whatever creatures are unfortunate enough to be right below it, will be sucked into these storms and then rained back down after it has passed.

Life Edit

The main species that rule Martopia are the Signots. The Signots are creatures very similar to Earth's fish that are about 2 meters long. Their bodies are mainly covered with rods that fire electromagnetic signals when giving birth. What is fascinating is that, on occasion, these signals pass through the atmosphere and get blasted off into space. These creatures are carnivorous and use a single rod, located on their frontal lobe, to attract other fish. This is disturbingly similar to Earth's Anglerfish. Scientists are puzzled at what gives these Signots the ability to fire EMPs into space. They have set up dozens of floating islands and there are a little bit over 1000 scientists studying these fish.
