Hi there, I'm Draconiator, one of the contributors of this wiki, and I just wanted to give potential new editors some tips on making articles for this wiki. This is how I do things - you may adopt a new style all your own; just consider these pointers. Be sure to get the 0.9.7.3 patch too, and unzip it into your 0.9.7.2 folder. Once installed, take some time to familiarize yourself with all of the controls and the buttons on the interface. Moving around is done with the mouse - hold the left mouse button to pan the camera, hold the right mouse button to tilt the camera, and hold both mouse buttons to zoom out and in. This is very useful for taking pictures for the Wiki of your chosen planet.
Look at the Timeline as well, it will give you some general pointers on the history of the mythos we are making. It is currently the year 10000, and wormhole drive has been invented, allowing us to write about these amazing planets. For my writings, I use the WDS Isvoy, a science ship on a mission of discovery. You may use your own ship, faster-than-light probes, or something else. The year I have the Isvoy as active is the 9960s. it was comissioned in 9900. Of course, the end result is all up to you.
Most of my articles begin with the fact that a signal was found, and the crew of the Isvoy goes in to investigate. I write my articles as if this system was the first time that system was found. Pay mind to the Contact Directive. If I decide to write on unicelluar life, that doesn't matter much, as single-celled life can't think, and will not wonder "what the hell is this huge thing picking me up". A good tool for this also is the Kardashev Scale article. Generally - and again, your stories may vary - anything below a Type II civilization you would not want to contact. Also, if your civilization does not have their own warp drives, you shouldn't contact those in your stories as per the Contact Directive.
Always add the "RS" designator for the system so other people can visit it. On the info in the upper left of the SpaceEngine screen, it looks something like this: RS XXX-XXX-XX-XXXX-XX X . The amount of numbers may vary. For additional targets in the same solar system, I just put the number at the end number after the space. It saves space and avoids redundancy. For example, if a planet was X, the first major moon of that planet would be X.1, and I would put that in parenthesis (Tomato [X.1] is the first moon of Potato).
Again, this is how I do things. You are free to do things your own way - this is just a reference guide after all. There are countless planets to discover within millions of galaxies, just do your best to make something interesting. :) Other editors may add onto this as well, so keep a lookout for new additions to this article!
